Licensing & Regulation

Oklahoma licenses PIs through the Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training (CLEET) under 59 O.S. §1750.1 et seq. Applicants must be 18+, complete CLEET-approved training, pass an examination, and submit fingerprints.

Physical Surveillance

Public surveillance is permitted. Oklahoma's stalking statute (21 O.S. §1173) constrains intrusive conduct. GPS tracking on a non-owned vehicle is risky.

Audio & Video Recording Consent

Oklahoma is a one-party-consent state under 13 O.S. §176.4. The recording party must be a participant.

Domestic, Marital & Infidelity Investigations

Oklahoma allows fault-based divorce; adultery is a ground. PIs document patterns. Accessing a spouse's accounts may violate 21 O.S. §1953 (computer crimes).

Cybersecurity, Hacking & Digital Investigations

21 O.S. §1951 et seq. (Oklahoma Computer Crimes Act) parallels the CFAA. OSINT is permitted; pretexting is barred.

Oklahoma OSBI coordinates missing-persons cases. DPPA fully applies. Oklahoma's stalking statute is broad.
