Wyoming One-Party

Licensing & Regulation

Wyoming does not maintain a statewide PI license. Investigators operate under standard business registrations and any municipal requirements. Wyoming's small population and limited regulatory infrastructure produce one of the most permissive PI environments in the U.S.

Physical Surveillance

Public surveillance is permitted. Wyoming's stalking statute (Wyo. Stat. §6-2-506) constrains intrusive conduct. GPS tracking on a non-owned vehicle is risky.

Audio & Video Recording Consent

Wyoming is a one-party-consent state under Wyo. Stat. §7-3-702. The recording party must be a participant.

Domestic, Marital & Infidelity Investigations

Wyoming is a no-fault divorce state but allows fault grounds. Marital misconduct rarely affects property division. PIs document patterns. Accessing a spouse's accounts may violate Wyo. Stat. §6-3-501 et seq. (computer crimes).

Cybersecurity, Hacking & Digital Investigations

Wyo. Stat. §6-3-501 et seq. parallels the CFAA. OSINT is permitted; pretexting is barred.

Missing Persons, Skip Tracing & Harassment

Wyoming DCI coordinates missing-persons cases. DPPA fully applies. Wyoming's stalking statute is broad.
